Even the information about your health alternatives is kept from you; often this may include the fact that you even have alternatives! UPCOMING HOT ISSUE: Nanotechnology Warnings 5-28-08. Nanotechnology consists of artificial, microscopic, manufactured (i.e. manmade) technology that is included in foods or medicine, supposedly to provide some benefit. Unfortunately, the materials that nanoparticles are made from have not been tested in the human body, and there are no current laws regulating how they may be used or even whether or not they are required to be tested. The U.S. Senate is in the process of considering the addition of licensed Naturopathic Doctors to the Indian Health Bill. Background: At present, Medical Doctors and Osteopathic Doctors are eligible for medical school tuition re-imbursement if they agree to work for 4 years on a Native American reservation, one of the most underserved populations in the U.S. At present, licensed Naturopathic Doctors, whose education and training are comparable to that of MDs and DOs, are not eligible to participate, despite the fact that in almost every calendar year, positions for badly needed doctors go unfilled in many Native American communities due to a lack of interested MD/DO applicants. Raw Milk Rally in Sacramento a Raging Success! 1-22-08. Californians rallied in Sacramento last week in an attempt to overturn a secretive bill that had essentially outlawed raw milk. Raw milk dairies, citizen action groups, health care practitioners and consumers overwhelmed the state legislature and obtained a temporary reprieve, which will permit continued access to raw milk while a thorough, scientific review of the matter can take place. This is excellent news for consumers. To read the details, Click Here California in danger of losing access to Raw Milk Late last year, the California Legislature passed a bill, AB1735, literally in the dark of the night which eliminates access to raw milk in California. Thanks to lawsuits filed by several large raw dairies, there will now be an opportunity to modify this bill so that health-conscious consumers may continue to buy raw milk.
