Education & Licensure of Oriental Medicine Practitioners/Acupuncturists
Cosmetic Acupuncture

Hello, my name is Guesh Shaulien Cuan and I'm a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. Becoming a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been a life long pursuit that begun the age of 5 when I starting apprenticing with my mother, Dr. Mulan Cuan, M.D., O.M.D. with specialty in Internal Medicine and OBGYN, in the South of China. Each day after school, I went to my mother's clinic and observed her work. By age 7, I began assisting in the herbal pharmacy by filling herbal prescriptions. When I was 11 years old, my family transplanted to Venezuela where my mother establish the very first acupuncture clinic in that country. I became her translator and assistant until I finished high school, when I began to work full time as an acupuncturist under her supervision. Later, I came to Los Angeles to attend college and graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Psychobiology and a minor in Spanish Literature. I also had the opportunity to study medicine at Sun Yut San University of Medical Sciences in my native city in China and later Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at SAMRA University of Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles. After graduate school, in the hospitals of Beijing, China, I furthered my studies in the field of TCM internal medicine (stress management, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, gastrointestinal dysfunction, acute and chronic pain management, substance dependence) and facial (wrinkles elimination, skin firming and other signs of premature aging) and body rejuvenation (improved mental sharpness, increased energy, enhanced vitality, strengthened immune system.)

Through out the years, my mother taught me not only all she knew in the art of healing, but also, through leading by example, her passion for medicine, her work ethics and her deep compassion to care for her patients' well-being. As a therapist, my mission is to empower my patients with knowledge and tools to improve and optimize their health while providing quality medical care that is effective, natural and safe. As my patient, you will be honored as an individual whose health care needs are unique and deserve a personalized approach. Your healing treatments will be customized to bring balance to the changing nature of your physical, emotional, and environmental experiences. You will be guided through your unique path to wellness to achieve successful solutions for your health with the powerful integration of acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, nutritional and life style counseling.
